My sister is a nurse and her advice is useful. We must be doing something right if we have maintained our health for so long.

So with the help of my sister, I have put together 5 things that we can do to maintain your health.

Wash You Hands

Everyone knows this – but do we all do this? We need to wash our hands. If we are at a store, as soon as we get home, I tell my kids to wash their hands. I also like to keep hand sanitizer around to use on the cart handle when we are shopping. This is the best line of defense we have to keeping germs away. Make sure you always wash your hands before you eat.

Stay hydrated – When you are dehydrated you can become fatigued. Water can also help your skin look great and help you control your calorie intake.

Chicken (2)

Eat the right foods – Did you know there are several foods that you can eat that will help your immune system? Foods like garlic, yogurt, oats,  sweet potatoes, and tea can help your immune system. When you start feeling yucky, make yourself some chicken soup. It blocks the migration of inflammatory white cells.

ExerciseExercise will help your immune system fight off simple bacterial and viral infections. Physical activity may help by flushing bacteria out from the lungs (decreasing the chance of a cold, flu, or other airborne illness). The temporary rise in body temperature may prevent bacterial growth, allowing the body to fight the infection more effectively. When you exercise your body temperature rises and can fight off infection similar to the reaction of your body when you have a fever.

Ester C Pills

Take your vitamins and supplements – This is so simple and we should all be taking vitamins and supplements. Everyday I take a multi-vitamin, calcium, and 2 Ester-C® tablets. Ester-C®, a unique form of Vitamin C that lasts longer than regular Vitamin C because it is designed to stay in your white blood cells for 24 hours, providing you with around-the-clock immune system support.*

Vitamin C is a great for your immune system. I love Ester-C because it is gentle on my stomach and it stays in my system for 24 hours.

Ester-C® is carefully formulated to contain naturally occurring metabolites.  Metabolites are a substance derived from other compounds (such as nutrients) during the process of metabolism. The metabolites in Ester-C® help enhance the retention of Vitamin C by your white blood cells for 24 hours, which are a vital component of your immune system.*

There is a lot of conflicting reports about vitamin c - whether it works or not. But it can't hurt!

We seem to have already gotten every bug floating around already in this house. And since winter hasn't even technically started yet, I think I'll definitely pick up some of that Ester-C since I already wash my hands a million times a day.

These are all great tips. We are very good at hand washing in our house. It is the best way to avoid illness.
