Japanese White Sauce Recipe

Enjoy this Japanese white sauce recipe (also known as Yum Yum sauce) with your favorite food. It comes together in about 5 minutes but tastes best when you let it sit overnight! It’s just like the sauces you find at Benihana Restaurants™. Go ahead, put it on everything – my dad even likes to dip pretzels in it!

Have you ever been to a Japanese restaurant where they cook the food in front of you? I know when I go there I ask them for a double order of the white sauce they put on the table. It’s so good with steak, chicken, and shrimp!

It’s so good my kids will eat anything that I pour it on! We love to add it to a lot of Chinese recipes too like beef and broccoli and or my Easy Chicken Fried Rice Recipe.

I really like hibachi restaurants but they are usually a little out of our price range when the whole family goes out to eat. So a homemade Japanese hibachi dinner is the best substitution!

What is Japanese White Sauce?

It is also called Yum Yum sauce.  this dipping sauce is usually found in Japanese hibachi steakhouses.  It takes about five minutes to prepare and its main ingredient is mayonnaise.  I usually use Duke’s or Hellmann’s and mayonnaise.

I made steak and chicken hibachi for dinner and it was so good and easy! You could make some fried rice with leftover rice. Then I chopped up a huge zucchini and onion and cooked it in a wok in a mix of oil, butter, lemon juice, sesame oil, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

Then I chopped up and cooked chicken and steak with the oils, butter, and soy sauce. I let the chicken cook for a few minutes and moved it to the side of the pan then I added the steak and cooked them together but kept them separated in the pan.

I made a plate and drizzled this Japanese White Sauce all over it and it was amazing!! My kids ate a ton of it – even the veggies. And we even had some leftovers!

These look so good. The problem with them when we go out is that my husband can't stand onions, so even though he loves these, he can never eat them when we were out. Now I feel more confident I can make them at home. Thanks for the recipe. Those sauces look great!

I would have had no clue that it had tomato paste in it- and would have fumbled around figuring that one out. I have some egg rolls in the freezer and will for sure be giving this a try . It looks terrific and I bet tastes even better.
