Tips to help you save on your grocery bill

I feel like I am at the grocery store a few times a week. I have got to get my act together and do a better job grocery shopping. I know what to do but I need to implement these tips in my own life.

The first thing I need to do is make a meal plan and stick to it! When I make a plan, I make a grocery list, and then I don’t have to go back out to the store to pick up a few more items. I use the items I already have in my house and I avoid buying extra things if I don’t have to make a trip back to the store.

Eating in season is also a good way to save money. I have been trying to eat healthy meals. Produce can be very expensive. When I purchase what is in season, I can save money because it’s usually on sale. This may also inspire you to cook seasonal recipes that you may not have tried to make. I love a little challenge in the kitchen – so buying produce that’s in season helps me to be a little more creative.

Make it from scratch. Have you ever made your own taco or chili seasoning? It is so easy and cheap to throw together. Plus it is healthier for you than the seasonings that have been sitting on the shelf for a few months or more!

Use digital discounts. I know that clipping coupons can be a pain. So take advantage of the digital discounts that are available. Your favorite grocery store may offer digital coupons – which are pretty much the same as the ones you would clip in the paper. Also use apps like Ibotta and SavingStar to get cash back after you make your purchase. Try to eek out all the savings you can find!

As you can see – just a few small things can add up to a lot of savings. Try 1 or 2 of them this week and see how much you can save!
