Interesting Article About Black Friday Shopping

Sharing is caring!

CNN wrote this article about Black Friday. I thought it was a really interesting article about how much shopping was done online this year compared to previous years. I do 95% of my shopping online. You can read here about why I prefer to shop online.

Interesting facts from the article:

  • Retail sales on Black Friday climbed 6.6% this year to an estimated $11.4 billion.
  • Online sales have also proven to be strong, with many big-box retailers and department stores offering deals online earlier this year.
  • Black Friday online sales surge 24%.
  • Online sales were up 39.3% on Thanksgiving Day and 24.3% on Black Friday compared to the same days last year, according to IBM’s (IBM, Fortune 500) Coremetrics.
I think it’s smart for retailer to offer deals online on Thanksgiving. It’s a lot better than standing outside in line waiting to save a few bucks. In my opinion, most of the great deals found in-stores will be or have been just as cheap online. It’s kinda scary that you read stories about the crazy people at the Black Friday sales.

Now tomorrow is Cyber Monday –  it’s supposed to be like Black Friday but online instead of in-stores. You should be able to snag a great deal and get cash back from Ebates. Plus Ebates is supposed to offer double cash back at over 500 retailers tomorrow!

Make sure you also join NoMoreRack – they are supposed to offer crazy deals at midnight (est) including an Xbox Kinect Bundle for $100!
