How I Saved On A Rental Car

Today was the first time I used Priceline to name my own price. I have to say, it was really exciting!

Last month we needed a car for 2 days while we were in South Dakota. I was looking for a deal but the best I could find was $150. That was a lot more than I wanted to pay for a compact car! So I remembered that Priceline lets you name your own price. So I thought I would give it a try.

I went through and entered all my information. I tried to bid $30 per day for a compact car. I entered my credit card information and waited anxiously for a response. Well, they declined my offer but told me if I bid $37 per day I would have a better chance. So I went with $33….and they took my offer! After taxes and fees we paid about $90.

We got the car from Alamo so I wanted to see what it would have cost if I bought it directly from Alamo – it was $175! So we did get a great deal! It was even a busy time in South Dakota. So if you need a rental car, try to name your own price at Priceline!
