Oz – The Great And Powerful

Sharing is caring!

Have you heard about the newest Disney movie Oz – The Great and Powerful, that was released last week? Of course you have – there has been so much promotional marketing for this movie. I have seen a bunch of commercials, it has been all over my Facebook page, and many bloggers have written about it. The movies looks incredible. The graphic look so real. This is a movie I think I want to go see with my family. We haven’t been to a movie since The Avenger’s came out. I think we are due for a movie!

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful”  imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

Did you know this movie is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz? This film is packed with major stars. I love that Michelle Williams plays the white witch – she looks so pretty. I read they spent 200 million dollars just to make the movie! In their first weekend they made 80 million in the US and 70 million worldwide. It didn’t do as well as Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp – but I think it will still do well at the box office.

So have you seen the movie? What do you think – should I bring my kids to see the movie?

This does look good! We haven't seen a movie in forever due to my husband's work schedule. I am hoping for a new schedule soon so we can enjoy this together as a family!!

Movie was great, but if your kids are under 15 or so I wouldn't take them. Has scary parts, had quite a few kids screaming throughout the movie, or leaving part way through it. I was glad I didn't bring my 9 year old to it.
