Have you every thought about how many kids go back to school without the proper school supplies? It is really sad that there are families that can’t afford back to school items. It is pretty crazy how long the list is that some schools send home for the parents to buy.

I was given $25 to help buy school supplies for a child that could use some help. My mom asked a lady at her work if she could buy supplies for her son and she was very excited to have help. Now a days $25 doesn’t go very far – but we got him a lot of stuff he will need to get started! Shop the sales and stock up all year round to spend less.
The most expensive item was the backpack at $14,88. We didn’t want to buy a cheap backpack that would only last a few weeks. Here are the rest of the items we were able to purchase at Wal-mart. It was also tax free weekend so we were able to save a little more.
- 3 glue sticks – .50 cents each
- 1 box of Crayola crayons – .50 cents each
- 1 Composition notebook – .50 cents each
- 1 backpack – $14.88
- 2 boxes of pencils – .97 cents each
- 4 folders – .50 cents each
- 3 packages of filler paper – .82 cents each
- 1 school supply box – .97 cents each
Grand total – $24.82
How can you help out with just $25? There are so many great sales – so you should be able to get a lot for $25. You don’t have to spend $25 – spend what you can and provide something for someone that may not have the right school supplies for the new school year!
