I hate renting a car because you can enter a million coupon codes and get a different price every time! Many time when we rent a car we only use it for 1 way for a day – so it is a little harder to find a deal. Here’s an example of how much of a discount you can get when you search for a discount code.
Here are the prices to rent a car at Budget.com for 1 day that is being picked up and dropped off at a different location. You can see the prices are pretty high!
Now all I did was enter a BCD code U072412 in the coupon code sections and look how cheap the intermediate SUV cost to rent. If I pay now it is $50.08 vs $122.39! that is a savings of over $72 – just by entering a coupon code!
I picked the pay at the counter option so I can cancel this reservation if I want. I only need an intermediate car – so I can find it cheaper I can easily cancel this reservation.
This works for all car rental companies. You can find even better deals if you pick up and drop off at the same location or rent a car for the week! If you are renting with a credit card check out your benefits. I know my cards gives me theft and collision coverage.
How to find discounts?
There are several places I look for specials. First check out the special offers tab on the cars website. You can also find codes at RetailMeNot. If you are renting in Florida make sure you check out MouseSavers. I always rent in Florida – so I can find some great codes! You can also check out coupon books like the Entertainment Book and the Enjoy the City Book.
Make sure you also check out Kayak.com – they usually search all the travel sites for the best deals. But I usually get the best deal when I go direct to the company.

I always shop through a cash back portal when I do anything online. You can get cash back on any purchase and you will still get any benefits from your credit card company!

I didn't know you could find discount codes online! This is really great information. I do a lot of weekending with my husband, and sometimes we rent a car. This will help a lot with the expense. In fact, we're going away for Labor day weekend. Do these codes work on for holiday weekends too?

I hope they will help you save a lot of money :) You should be able to use them on any rental. I just change them until I see a price I like.
