How I Save Money On Things That Never Go On Sale

Sharing is caring!

Fitbit

Have you ever wanted something that never went on sale? Or if it did go on sale it was a $5 difference. Every once in a while my husband will want something and it is impossible for me to find a deal. And you know me – I can never pay full price! This is how I save money on things that never go on sale.

For my husbands birthday he really wanted a Fitbit Flex . It keeps track of your activity, your sleep habits, and even reminds you to get up and more around. We really want to get healthy – but I did not want to spend $100 on a bracelet! So here is how I paid just $52.64 for a Fitbit that is always $99. It was as low as $89 at Amazon – but that is the cheapest it has ever been. Plus that $52.64 includes $6.65 tax and $9.99 shipping!

Research the cost online

Amazon will usually offer the best deal on most of the items I like. I got the link to the Fitbit from Amazon and entered it at CamelCamelCamel.com. This is a great website that tracks the prices of millions of items. You can even set an alert. You tell them your ideal price and they will send you an email if the price is that low.

I realize that for a very short time the Fitbit was $89 – still a little more than I wanted to pay.

See which retailer sells the item

Next I went to Froogle.com. This is a Google Website that tracks the cost of items at many websites. I searched for the Fitbit and I saw they were all selling for $99. So I checked out all the stores selling it. The reason I did this is because I know that sometimes stores have coupons for 20% off 1 item or a dollar off a total. I was so excited when I saw that it was sold at Brookstone. I had just received a coupon for $15 off $50 and I know I had a $50 voucher that I bought  from LivingSocial. I paid $10 for it after a discount code and a credit I had. Knowing what coupons are available will help you save on products that aren’t normally on sale.

Never shop online without getting cash back!

Now that I knew I could save $65 on a Fitbit, I knew I could afford to get this for my husbamd for this birthday. But I wasn’t done saving money! After checking all my cash back options (TopCashBack, Ebates, ShopAtHome, United Milage, and Swagbucks) I was happy to see that TopCashBack offered 8% cash back. Since the voucher I had from LivingSocial was like a gift certificate, I was able to get 8% cash back on $100 – so they paid me $8 cash back!

Here’s the breakdown:

Cost

  • Fitbit – $99
  • Shipping – $9.99
  • Tax – $6.65

Total – $115.64

Discounts

  • $15 coupon code
  • $50 voucher for $10
  • $8 cash back

Total discount – $63 (I took out the $10 I paid for the voucher.)

So after the discounts and cash back I paid just $52.64. I do hate paying for shipping – but I save almost 50% off the price that never changes!

So what do you think? Can you find a deal on something that is never on sale??
