Alpha-Bits Having Fun With Food

Sharing is caring!

This is my third year home schooling my kids – but it is the first time I have a child in Kindergarten. It has been so fun watching my son learn his letters. He will shout out a word (even after school) and tell me what letter it starts with. Or he will see the letter on something a tell me the letter. Alpha-Bits is a fun way to help my kids learn their letters!

I had never thought of using food to help my son with his letters. I received 2 boxes of Alpha-Bits cereal and quickly learned that this was going to be an awesome way to help my son learn his letters. As soon as we opened the first box he sorted out the letters in a paper plate and told us many of the letters. I was a proud mom when he even started to tell me letters that we have not worked on yet in class. He loves to eat cereal so it was the perfect fit! We eat cereal at all hours of the day!

SuperWHY

Here’s some of the ways that we “played which our food”.

  • With my 5 year old, we took out the 7 letters that we have studied so far in school. We then tried to spell the words that we have studied – like mat, bat, at, rat, and hat.
  • Even thought he hasn’t learned all his letters he can say the whole alphabet. So I helped him to find all the letters and we put them in order. There were many letter that he knew even though we had not learned them in school.
  • When he gets a little older, I will have him separate his vowels and constants.
  • With my 8 year old we spelled many words. We would keep adding on to the words to make them longer. We would add prefixes and suffixes to the works to give them new meaning.
  • We could also play a food version of Words with Friends. We each used a paper plate for our letters and used a cookie sheet as our game board.

We all had a lot of fun “playing with our food” and after we were done we had a snack!

Alpha-Bits us a nutritious and delicious breakfast your whole family will enjoy. Each 30 gram serving contains 20 grams of whole grains and 12 essential vitamins and nutrients. It contains nutrients that help support healthy brain development, lie Zinc and Iron.

I don’t buy my kids sweet cereals. I was very happy that Alpha-Bits cereal is nutrious and delicious. My kids loved the taste and it was fun discovering the letters. I have to admit that I have never bought Alpha-Bits cereal before but it will now be on our grocery list. My three kids loved the cereal and so did my two nieces that were visiting when we received the box.

As he learns more letters and begins to read, I can’t wait to help him spell out words with his cereal. Kids love to play with their food. This is a great combination of learning and snacking.
