Best Bread Machine Rolls – Buttery & Delicious

Sharing is caring!

Are you looking for the best bread machine rolls? This is such an easy recipe! We have these homemade dinner rolls at every holiday meal and special occasion.

I always have yeast in the house so I can make this recipe with my pantry staples. I live in Florida so I always have a warm spot for my bread to rise.

The bread machine does all the hard work and you just form them and bake them. Add all the ingredients for this easy bread machine roll dough, turn it to the dough setting, press start, and it makes the perfect dough for these fluffy rolls! Then you just form the dough into a ball shape and bake rolls for 12-15 minutes.

I have used my stand mixer with a dough hook to make this recipe and it’s a lot more work. With a bread machine – you can set it and forget it! (For at least a little bit of the recipe.)

I love to use my bread maker! I use this bread machine recipe for homemade rolls and if you love cinnamon rolls, you need to check out this recipe that’s made in the bread machine.

I have also used whole wheat flour for this great recipe and it was perfect! I have also used this dough to make hamburger buns and pizza dough. It’s a very versatile dough. I have never used this dough to make hot dog buns – but I am sure it would work!

Additional information:

  • You can use whole milk or 2% milk.
  • This recipe uses active dry yeast. If you want to switch it for instant yeast (also called bread machine yeast) use a heaping 1.5 teaspoon.
  • Make the pieces of dough the same shape so they cook evenly.
  • Place the rolls in a warm area to rise again after they come out of the bread machine.
  • It is not recommended to use bread flour in this recipe. The biggest difference is that bread flour has more protein so it could result in a dough that is dry, and you may need to add water.
  • I love to use King Arthur flour in this recipe. But I have also generic store-brand flour and it tastes just as good!

Ingredients needed for Buttery Bread Machine Rolls

  • 1 cup warm milk (microwave for about 20 seconds)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all purpose flour *
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • Melted butter to add on top after they are baked

Directions for bread machine rolls recipe:

Add all the ingredients into your bread machine pan. I like to add the liquid ingredients, milk, butter, and eggs first and then top with the dry ingredients. Then I make a little hole in the top of the flour to add the yeast.

Set it to the dough setting* and hit the start button. It will mix all the ingredients and you can watch the dough rise through the tin window.
