My grandad served in WW2 and he never talked about the war much. He was in the Navy. I realize now that he probably had PTSD but that’s only been heard about in the last few years. When the war effected the U.S. , he joined the Navy. I was always proud he was a veteran and he did goto some get together for his shipmates. He must have seen terrible things to not talk about it very often. I was close to him when he pasted and I was only 8. We found his uniform just a few years ago and I was emotional thinking about the sacrifices he made. Our country would not be free today without proud Americans serving. My oldest daughter were in junior ROTC in high school and I learned even more about what it takes to serve. I even got a little choked up flag ceremonies and other programs.
