Thanks to Bethlehem Books for sponsoring this conversation. All opinions are my own.
This year we are leaning heavily on only buying each child 4 gifts – something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. Every time I help them clean up, I notice that they have too many toys. I would guess that 85% of the things they own are never played with. So why do they need a ton of gifts on Christmas morning when they are just going to be set aside?
My kids love to read, so it may be hard to pick just one book to give them. Bethlehem Books is a great place to find books for the whole family to enjoy.

About Bethlehem Books:
Bethlehem Books is a small, home grown publishing company dedicated to restoring to children and families a treasury of wholesome, character-building literature. They are more than just a business. Their work springs from the heart of the Bethlehem Community of Benedictine Oblates, a lay group of families and single people which began in 1971.
Here are a few books that would be a perfect gift!
A Day on Skates: Twins Afke and Evert have a particularly understanding teacher who decides to take his class on a winter skating trip in a nearby town. Evert and his buddies, shy Simon and loyal Afke all have their share of adventures. Everyone (Teacher most of all) breathes a happy sigh of relief upon arriving home safely after a very full day.
The Miracle of St. Nicholas is another great children’s book about a Russian boy and his babushka who talk about the past and faith and hope for miracles.
Marta is always there; and the children, sensing her unhappiness, do not want her to go away. When they find out that Marta desires a “good place” in the kitchen, nine-year-old Gregory, with precocious young Janet in tow, sets out to find her a Ukrainian icon in busy, modern London. Overwhelmed, frustrated and even humiliated in the search, Gregory does not give up nor retreat into his silence. Rather, with each difficulty Gregory begins to draw from his own unexpected and untapped well of faith and resourcefulness.

I think it is very important to get our kids interested in reading at a very young age. A good reader makes a good , interesting person. I love book sets when kids can choose a different book each day to read. You can never have too many books.
