This information about 4 Tips To Keep Your Kids Healthy This Year is sponsored by vivaNUTRITION®. All opinions are my own. #HealthyKids
I have 3 kids and one of my goals this year is to make sure I am raising them to know how to make good choices when it comes to their health. I know it has to start now – otherwise they are going to develop poor habits that can affect them their whole lives.
This article is really just a good reminder for me to go back and look over often to make sure I am following through with these healthy habits. They are also a reminder for me – because it’s hard to make good choices when it’s so much easier to make a bad choice!
I have 2 kids in elementary school and a son in middle school. Our school district does things a little different. The elementary students start school earlier. There have been studies that show the benefits of a later start time for kids in middle school and high school and I think it works. We live in a county with some of the best schools in the state.
According to The Sleep Foundation kids between 6-13 years old should get around 9-11 hours of sleep. My kids do usually get that much sleep each night unless we have an activity run late.
Another thing our schools do right is give them lots of time at recess. It gives them a chance to move around and socialize. I think that’s so important and it shows them that exercise is fun and makes them feel good. We also let each kid pick 1 activity like baseball, gymnastics, tennis, etc. It’s easy to sit around all day – so make sure you encourage your kids to get up and move around!
Limit electronics time:
According to a study, kids spend over 7 hours per day on electronic devices! We try to limit the amount of time our kids can be on electronics. It can make them unsociable, lazy, and rude. It can be like an addiction because sometimes it is all they want to do.
In my house we need to set up expectations. For example: our son may get to have 2 hours total on his electronics per day. He can decide if he wants to use that time right after school or break it up. It’s also one of the first things I take away when they get in trouble. If they have chores, make them do them before they can get on their devices.
I have been working really hard at checking labels, and I even have my kids doing it too. We didn’t realize how many things we used to eat had high fructose corn syrup and lots of sugar. Did you realize that a glass of 2% milk even has 11 grams of sugar! Now our kids think about the trade offs and what they want to eat to limit the sugar in their diet.
Making sure they are also getting the nutrients they need is also important. We pack their lunches with fresh fruits and veggies and some lean proteins. We are also a family on the go, so snack bars from vivaNUTRITION® are quick and easy and tastes yummy! vivaNUTRITION® has delicious snack bars and other products to help my kids get the right nutrients!
Here’s what some parents have to say about vivaNUTRITION® bars:
“I’m a mom who is constantly looking at labels before I give something to my son. Sometimes the healthier it is, the less likely my toddler is to like it though. I like that the VivaNutrition bars are not only healthy snack for my son, but he loves the taste. It’s also the perfect sized snack for him once, or even twice a day.” Krystina F. San Diego, CA
“My girls finished their fizzy drink and asked for more!” – Jenica P, Los Angeles

I have been doing a lot of Probiotics research and gut health affects so much of your overall health!
Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when ingested, bring health benefits to the human body. Did you know that there are over 400 different types of healthy microbes in the human gut? They destroy harmful bacteria and encourage a healthy digestive system.
But it’s important to note that not all probiotics are the same. While they help in many ways, there are specific ones you want to pay attention to. For example, the bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis 12 strain (BB-12®→* for short) is one of the ‘healthy’ bacteria.
Not only do Probiotics do away with a lot of illnesses, it also prevents them from recurring. Did you know that 80% of your immune system lies in your gut? BB-12®→ boosts the growth of other healthy bacteria in the gut – this is how immune response is improved and skin / respiratory tract infections are reduced. vivaNUTRITION® focuses on producing natural, heathy and delicious product with a balanced nutritional profile. VIVA →Probiotics with BB-12®has been formulated by a team of nutritional experts who ensure that it is present in the right percentage for your child, along with a host of other ingredients that are beneficial as well.
