Hotel Review: Westgate New York Grand Central

Sharing is caring!

Planning a trip to New York City can be a challenge because of the vast number of hotels available in the heart of Manhattan. This part of the world features some of the most fantastic hotel experiences, and it’s essential to find the right spot for you and your budget. Here, learn about one of the most iconic hotel experiences in Manhattan at the Westgate New York Grand Central.

Perfect Location

The Westgate New York Grand Central at 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue is positioned in one of the most popular locations for tourists wanting to see the best of Manhattan. It’s located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, which gives visitors plenty of options for things to do and see nearby. A few blocks away is the headquarters for the United Nations and several different consulates from countries such as Turkey, South Africa, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. The famous Chrysler Building stands tall right by the hotel.

Hotel History

Unlike some other typical chain hotels, the Westgate’s building has a unique and interesting story behind it. The building was constructed in 1931 by developer Fred F. French. It was part of a more significant development in Midtown called the Tudor City Complex. As time went by, the building changed hands and became a Hilton hotel and had a few different names. Eventually, the property was purchased by Westgate, and the hotel was brought to this resort company’s family of hotels.

Comfortable Rooms

Once inside of the building, you’ll see a modern, stylish lobby and friendly faces at reception. The rooms in the hotel are some of the most comfortable and spacious in the city. Instead of cramped spaces like in many Manhattan hotels, the Westgate offers guests comfortable suites and rooms that feature Serenity Beds. The street noise from the city will be muted out of your quiet room with the triple pane windows blocking the sounds from outside.

Tasty Food Options

You don’t have to leave the hotel to get a bite to eat with several different food options located on the premises. You can wake up to a delicious breakfast buffet from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and enjoy hot food like eggs, bacon, and pancakes, as well as other breakfast staples. The hotel’s Tudor City Marketplace also features grab and go lunch options and alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

Friendly Staff

One of the best things about the classiest hotels in New York City is the level of service you can expect. At the Westgate, reception is open 24 hours a day and is available to help guests with whatever they need. The hotel offers valet parking for its guests for a fee.

Convenient Amenities

Amenities at the Westgate can also make a stay in New York City much more comfortable and memorable. This hotel has a well-equipped fitness center for its guests who want to continue their workout routine while traveling. The fitness center has cardio equipment and weights available for anyone focusing on their health.

Things To Do Nearby

Guests can experience some of the top attractions of New York City in Midtown Manhattan. Walking along 42nd Street, tourists will eventually come across the Broadway District and some of the best theaters and plays in the world. The world-famous Times Square is also nearby, giving visitors plenty of photo opportunities. Or, check out Grand Central Station and Bryant Park for more things to do.

Places To Eat Within Walking Distance

Venturing out for some food can be an exciting experience in this area because there are so many options. Chain eateries are plentiful in this area of the city. If you want something a little more interesting and complex, try The Land of Plenty for Sichuan food, La Grenouille for French, or Naya for Lebanese dishes.

Budget travelers can also take advantage of the Westgate’s discount stay programs. The hotel runs a variety of seasonal discount and package promotions depending on the time of year and special events being held in the city. Additionally, New York state employees can enjoy lower prices if they book a stay at the Westgate.

If you want to get the true experience of old New York City while also enjoying the modern conveniences of Wi-Fi and 24-hour service, try checking out the Westgate New York Grand Central in Midtown Manhattan. You’ll be close to almost everything and enjoy a comfortable night of sleep in this impressive hotel.
