What is The BEST Method of At-Home Teeth Whitening? The holidays are right around the corner and you may need these tips to brighten your smile.
This information is brought to you by Smile Brilliant. All opinions are my own.
My first real job was in a dental office. I was a dental assistant. It was my least favorite job, but it did have some perks. One of the perks was that I was able to have my teeth whitened for free.
This procedure was usually over $1000!
It did take a few visits, and it was uncomfortable because they had to put a light over every tooth to get the results. (This was over 20 years ago!)
To complete our beauty regimes, we all need a fabulous WHITE smile! But there are so many at-home teeth whitening options on the market – which do you choose?
It gets expensive to try them all, and are they all SAFE and EFFECTIVE? I did some research, and here’s what I have learned!
The thing is, most methods of teeth whitening are temporary – we are continually staining our teeth with what we eat and drink (coffee anyone!) In reality, deep stains take time to remove. Anything worth doing takes time!
The other thing is that ANY sort of teeth whitening can produce tooth sensitivity–especially the most professional teeth whitening methods!
But all at-home methods are not created equal—here is my comparison!
We have all tried them-you can buy them almost anywhere. I have seen good results from using them, but the issue is, they do not stay on your teeth very well, and they can make your teeth feel a little more sensitive! They are great in a pinch when you want to brighten up your smile.
Charcoal Teeth Whitening
We see this everywhere on Instagram–and looks gross! I have tried this, and it’s a really messy way to brush your teeth. But more than that, it can be abrasive to our teeth!
People swear by it, but I don’t care how cheap it is, I am not risking my tooth enamel. Similar to the strips, charcoal teeth whitening does not offer any solution for the inevitable tooth sensitivity caused by teeth whitening.
LED Teeth Whitening
On the one hand, I feel like this just seems silly, but also, it does kind of look like the whitening they do at the dentist, so maybe? It is inexpensive and does not create tooth sensitivity (which I love) but, the major negative?
I have seen mixed reviews about how well it actually works!
The BEST Method of At-Home Teeth Whitening
Custom-Fitted Whitening Trays
This is my recommendation for the best at-home teeth whitening method—especially when offered along with a solution for sensitivity.
The desensitizing gel helps close the pores of your teeth (that are opened by whitening) quicker and protect from re-staining. This method penetrates the teeth deeper, removing more stains.
Though this method is comparatively more expensive than the others, I look at it as an investment in my teeth because I can keep the trays forever!
A company that I have come across along the way is Smile Brilliant! They offer custom trays along with the desensitizing gel! There are tons of reviews you can check out too! They were so easy to use, and I could really see a difference.
