Kids Will Love This Heartwarming Story of Pony Express
If there is one thing I love, it’s finding a great story to share with my kids. Since they were babies, my husband and I would read to them daily. My kids are 6 and 8 years old now and the tables have turned with them reading books to us! Our bookshelves are flowing with amazing books that I have always enjoyed reading to my kids.
Since they’ve started reading, their book collection is changing a bit adding some new books to the collection. I recently got my hands on a children’s book called Pony Express that I have read over and over!
Pony Express, written by Carla Crane Osborne and illustrated by Michael Crane, is about a girl named Gona and her fun adventures on her family farm. Gona and her siblings share chores on the farm, but she knows that there is much more to the farm than just chores.
She believes it’s a magical world where she can become anything she wants, even a Pony Express rider racing across the dangerous plains of the Wild West to deliver the mail. This is, if she can get her brother Scott to play along.
My Thoughts
My kids and I love the adventure of Pony Express! Although I didn’t grow up on a farm, my sisters and I had horses and loved going on adventures together. Riding horses was such a wonderful thing to bond over with my sisters, just like it did with Gona and her brother Scott in the story.
This is the perfect book for my kids to read together and to my husband and I. Every time we read it, it brings me back to that freeing feeling of riding a horse. The illustrations are beautiful in Pony Express, I could see the Author’s vision was brought to life.
Make sure to grab a copy of Pony Express to read Gona’s adventures and find out what happens when she gets to play Pony Express with her brother. This will be a story that you could read over and over again!
