I love cookies! I spend the whole month of December playing with recipes and making batches of cookies with friends and neighbors.
This recipe for the Best M&Ms sugar cookies is probably the recipe that I messed with the most before I got it perfect!
If you have ever had a Publix sugar cookie – this cookie has the same taste and texture. So you could easily omit the M&M’s and sprinkle with some sugar to turn this into the best sugar cookie recipe.
The cookie recipe is the best base for so many creations. I have also used this recipe and added M&Ms, chocolate chips, and mini chocolate chips (use 1 cup of each).
So when you are looking for the best Christmas cookie to make this holiday season – you have to try this recipe. It makes a ton of cookies (I would say about 5 dozen) and they are delicious, soft, and chewy!
These cookies were even soft and chewy 2 days after I made them.
Another reason to love these cookies…scoop out the batter into small balls and freeze them to enjoy later. You only have to cook them for another minute.
I also have a huge cookie sheet that makes it fast to make a bunch of cookies.

Preheat your oven to 325*. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In a standing mixer, blend butter, and sugars. Once blended, add the eggs and vanilla extract.
In a medium-sized bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients. (Tip – if you have a flour sifter, use that to sift your flour as you measure it out into a mixing bowl.)
Add the M&Ms into the mix and stir to combine.
I use a medium cookie scoop and drop them onto the cookie sheet, about an inch apart.
Bake for 8-9 minutes. They may not look done – but you do not want to overcook them.
Let them sit on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack.
Repeat until you have baked all the dough or freeze the dough balls for future baking.
