The Best Desk Chair for High School and College Students: FlexiSpot C7 Morpher Review

Last Updated on August 9, 2026 by Janell

When you think about back-to-school shopping, you probably think about backpacks, school supplies, new clothes, and maybe even a new laptop. But one thing that is easy to forget is where your kids will actually sit when they do their homework.

As kids get older, they spend a lot more time at a desk. There is homework, studying, online assignments, projects, and sometimes even online classes. College students usually spend hours at their desks.

That's why I think a good desk chair is worth adding to your back-to-school list.

As part of my back-to-school series, I got to try the FlexiSpot Premium Back Support Ergo Chair C7 Morpher with Footrest. There are so many ways to adjust this chair, so you can get it set up in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Why a Good Chair Matters for Students

Most of us probably don't think about a desk chair until we've been sitting in an uncomfortable chair for a few hours.

Students spend all day sitting at school and then come home and sit some more to do homework. If they're using a chair that doesn't fit them well, it's not going to be very comfortable.

That's one reason I like an adjustable chair. Instead of having to sit in the same position all the time, you can make small changes depending on what you're doing.

You can sit upright when you're typing, lean forward when you're really focused on something, or recline a little when you're reading.

Lots of Back Support

The back support is probably the biggest thing that makes the C7 Morpher different from a regular office chair.

It has Flexlean Forward Tilt, which lets the backrest tilt forward up to 10 degrees. I like this feature for my kids because they aren't usually sitting straight back in their chairs while they're working. They're usually leaning toward the computer or over a notebook.

The Flexlide Backrest moves with you when you change positions instead of keeping your back in one spot.

It also has AirLumbar Support. You can inflate or deflate the lumbar area depending on how much lower-back support feels comfortable.

Even the height of the backrest can be adjusted so you can get the support in the right place.

You Can Adjust Almost Everything

This isn't a chair where your only options are moving the seat up and down.

You can adjust the seat height and depth, backrest height, headrest, armrests, lumbar support, and recline.

The seat height and depth adjust so they can be most comfortable at their desk.

FlexiSpot recommends the chair for people from about 5'6" to 6'7", and it can hold up to 380 pounds.

It also has an aluminum alloy base and comes with a 10-year warranty.

Those are things I especially like if you're buying this for an older student. A good chair isn't something they'll outgrow after one school year. It's something they can continue using through high school, college, and even when they start working.

It Has a Footrest!

The footrest might be one of my favorite features.

You can pull it out when you want to put your feet up, and the chair reclines from about 93 to 135 degrees.

It is really nice when you're reading, watching something on your computer, or just taking a break.

I also like that you don't have to sit in the exact same position the entire time you're at your desk. You can change things around depending on what you're doing.

A Good Option for High School and College Students

This chair is best for older students who spend a lot of time at their desks.

High school students have homework, studying, papers, and projects. College students may be doing all of that plus online classes and even working from their computer.

My kids use their desk for more than just homework. They watch videos, play games, scroll on their phones, and do plenty of other things while they're sitting there too.

That's why having a chair that's actually comfortable and can be adjusted to fit will help them succeed!

Don't Forget the Study Space When You're Back-to-School Shopping

You don't need to redo an entire bedroom or home office to give your student a better place to work.

A desk with enough space for their computer and books, good lighting, a few supplies, and a comfortable chair can make a really nice homework area.

The FlexiSpot Premium Back Support Ergo Chair C7 Morpher with Footrest has a lot more adjustments than a basic desk chair, and I really like that students can change the setup depending on how they're sitting and what they're working on.

Back-to-school shopping usually focuses on everything kids need to take with them. But it's also a good time to look at the space they'll come home to when it's time to get their homework done.
