Celebrate National Reading Month With Amazon’s FreeTime & Kindle

Celebrate National Reading Month With Amazon’s FreeTime & Kindle #‎KindleforKids‬ ‪#‎CleverGirls‬

Did you know that March is National Reading Month? It is a great time to get more involved in your children’s reading and foster their interest in books. We homeschool our kids so I am always looking for ways to help bring great books to my children.

A few weeks ago, we found a book called Big Nate at a yard sale. My son read the book in just 1 day. He kept asking me to buy him the next books in the series and I knew that we could get them for him instantly on the Kindle. It was easy to purchase the book and download it for him to read. The Kindle makes it so easy to access many books for my kids to read.

We started to go through several books and I realized that FreeTime would be a good option for our family. FreeTime Unlimited includes favorites, such as the Harry Potter series, The Borrowers by Mary Norton, Big Nate and Friends by Lincoln Peirce, and Newberry Medal and Honor winning books such as The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare, and Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell.

Amazon FreeTime is available across Amazon devices, including Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Amazon Fire TV. The specific features available on a device will vary.

The Kindle e-reader  is the perfect gift for kids starting to read chapter books, and is designed to make great books as accessible and engaging as possible, with zero distractions.

With Kindle, children can:

  • Look up definitions as they read to build their vocabulary and increase the font size for easier reading.
  • Use features like Vocabulary Builder – which stores words that kids look up and allows them to quiz themselves with flash cards – or Word Wise, which provides short and simple definitions above difficult words as they’re reading along.
  • Read thousands of books for free, including classics like Treasure Island and eBooks from their local library
  • Easily take their books with them without loading up a heavy backpack, helping to increase the amount of books they read – when one book finishes, they can start the next one right away!

Fostering a love of reading is so important. Give your child the tools they need to have access to their favorite books. Because FreeTime starts at $2.99 per month – it is an affordable option to help your child access many books and love reading!

You can purchase a Kindle eReader for just $79 or you can purchase a Kindle Fire for as little as $99. The Kindle Fire will give you more benefits because you can read books, play apps, and watch shows. FreeTime on Kindle e-readers offers books and the opportunity to get achievement badges. So make sure you purchase the device that is best for your family.

What is your child’s favorite book?

I almost got each of my nieces a Kindle for Christmas. I wish I had. I might just have to get them to encourage summer reading.

I have wanted to try a Kindle for a while now. I did not know there were so many great books to download for free.

I still love holding books when I read but this is great for the kiddos. Reading is a lost art, people just don't read anymore... well, text messages if that counts. ;)
