Valentine’s Day Lofthouse Cookies
I love Lofthouse cookies. They are so delicious. I don’t know if I love the soft cookie or that it’s loaded with icing. It’s like eating the top of a cupcake. I have tried many recipes for loft house cookies and they have not worked. Either they took too long to make because I had to refrigerate them or they fell apart. Sometimes they just didn’t taste right.
This recipe for Lofthouse cookies has it all! They are easy to make – Im sure you have most of these ingredients already in your house. You don’t have to chill them. You just mix the batter and bake. Plus it makes a lot of cookies – make sure you share!

I even love the touch of cream cheese flavor you have with the icing. So print this recipe and make plans to make these cookies now!

Valentine’s Day Lofthouse Cookies
(Printable Recipe)
Ingredients:
- 1 cup softened butter
- ¾ cup oil
- 1¼ cups sugar (plus extra)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon Cream of Tartar
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 5½ cups all-purpose flour
For the Icing:
- 1 bar cream cheese (8oz) softened
- ½ cup butter, softened (1 stick)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 3-4 teaspoons milk
- sprinkles (optional)
- Food coloring until desired color
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease cookie sheets and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add butter, oil and sugar and mix until well combined. (A stand up mixer works great!)
- Add the water and vanilla and mix until just combined. Then add the eggs one at a time.
- In the same bowl add baking soda, cream of tartar, salt and flour. Mix until it forms a dough.
- You can either use a larger scoop or roll the dough into the size of golf balls. Then use the bottom of a glass that has been dipped in sugar to press down on cookies. They need to be about ½ thick.
- Bake for about 10 minutes and make sure the cookies do not get brown on bottoms.
- Remove to a wire rack to cool.
- Combine the cream cheese, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk to make the icing. Beat until thick and creamy.
- Add a generous amount of icing to each cookies and add sprinkle if you desire.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies!
These Lofthouse cookies can be made for any occasion – just change up the food coloring and the sprinkles. These are definitely going on my list of Christmas cookies for next year!
Tip – you can make this cookie to fit any occasion! Change the icing to green or red and add some sprinkles for Christmas cookies!
