April Is World Autism Month

Did you know that April is World Autism Awareness month? The goal is to help raise awareness of Autism.

The CDC estimates autism’s prevalence as 1 in every 68 children in the United States. Autism’s most-obvious signs tend to appear between 2 and 3 years of age. In some cases, it can be diagnosed as early as 18 months. Autism Speaks encourages parents with concerns to seek evaluation without delay, as early intervention can improve outcomes.

But the “Light It Up Blue” campaign is about more than awareness. Autism Speaks is dedicated increasing understanding and acceptance of autism. I hope this information and anything you see during the month of April will help you better understand Autism.

Take the Light It Up BlueQuiz (http://bit.ly/ASDquiz) to help you better understand Autism. Get involved and spread the word! Share support of Light It Up Blue by posting a photo of yourself, loved one, child or even your pet wearing blue. Use #LightItUpBlue and tag @AutismSpeaks
