Make Sure Your Aging Cat is Eating The Right Food

If you have an older cat, you know that they’re definitely not the same feisty feline they once were. Whether they don’t play as much, they’re eating habits are changing, or there are some noticeable changes in their lifestyle. Besides trying your best to keep them active, did you know there is a food specifically designed for your aging cat? Yes! With Hills Science Diet Youthful Vitality!

My cat is now 10 years old and I have noticed some gradual changes in her over the years. I adopted her when my husband and I moved into our first home. She was definitely a delight, and such a playful, active cat. She would play all day long, watching out the windows for birds and squirrels hoping she could pounce on them. She would take her naps here and there, and of course always dipping into her food and water. But now she seems to sleep most of the day and rarely wants to play, I knew life was starting to creep up on her.

Here are the Tell TAILS signs of aging

T THINKING-You pet is now confused by ordinary things, like how to find their beds

AACTIVITY- Naps have been more appealing than playing or exploring

IINTERACTION- Your pet doesn’t socialize with you as much as before

LLOSS OF CONTROL- You pet is well-trained but has started having accidents

SSLEEP-WAKE-CYCLE- Sleeping patterns have changed, with more awake time during the night

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, it might be time to talk to your vet.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that pets have a senior screening at about age 7. Your veterinarian can then develop a customized plan for your pet to address any current concerns or potential health risks, including nutritional considerations.

Consistent vet visits and changing your pet’s food are just two things that can help older pets to continue to remain healthy in their later years.

She wants to play more, and she’s back to scoping out the birds and the squirrels out the window. Her naps aren’t as long, and she has gained a little much need weight. I never realized I would need to feed my cat something different to keep up with her aging. I am so glad to have my feisty little feline back!

I've heard of this brand before but I've never tried it. Good to know that it helps supply aging cats with the nutrition that they need.

My cats are mostly the same age, I would say "middle age." It makes me happy to know that there are cat food that cater to older age cats. Hills Science Diet Youthful Vitality Cat food is what I am getting my fur balls when they get to be older. Thank you for letting me know about this. I love my cats and I would want them to stay healthy, cuddly and active for the longest time.

I love that pet food brands are focusing on all ages of animals. They're like humans, their body needs change!
