If you have been reading my blog for the past year, you know how much I love my neighborhood. Just about every night we all end up hanging out in someone’s driveway or deck and chatting until the sun goes down.
We have the last house on the last street right next to the woods, so we have the perfect spot for an outdoor movie night. I usually get everything together for my family to enjoy some outdoor fun together and then I plan for a bunch of the families in the neighborhood to end up in my yard.
As a mom, you are usually prepared when extra people show up. So I wanted to share some of my best tips to throw an outdoor movie night for your family (or your whole block)!
How To Plan The Perfect Outdoor Movie Night
Projector & Screen:
Of course, you need a projector and a screen. We have vinyl siding on our home, and we were so happy when we realized that once it got dark, the movie looked perfect on the side of the house.
Seating:
You have to have somewhere to sit. We usually move our patio furniture to the back and let the kids set up blankets and air mattresses on the ground closest to the house.
Air mattresses are the best things to have at an outdoor movie night. So make sure you also have a few extra blankets and pillows. (It gets surprisingly cold at night in Kentucky!)
Glow Sticks:
You need glow sticks! They are super cheap, and the kids have so much fun with them. It also helps the kids to be able to see where everyone is, so they don’t get scared or hurt in the dark.
Snacks:
You have to have the right snacks. Of course, you have to have popcorn, but I like to do something different, something fun that’s a treat for all of us. This is the best caramel popcorn recipe!
We also like to have a variety of cookies and milk! We had a bunch of different OREO flavors – but pick out your favorite cookies to share!
I picked up OREO Red Velvet, OREO Birthday Cake, and OREO Cinnamon Bun flavors – they are always coming out with new flavors – so there is something for everyone!
Grab some cute bottles from the dollar store and serve ice-cold milk. I also picked up a small tub and filled it with ice to keep the milk cold.
What else would you have at your outdoor movie night?

What a nice idea to put an inflatable mattress in your backyard. That would be so nice to lay down on the mattress and watch a movie! Your snack bar has everything I love, especially oreos and milk!

What a nice neighborhood! I love your idea of on outdoor movie night. We don't have a backyard that huge, but I think we can make do with what we have. Your snack bar has everything yummy to enjoy while watching a movie.
