The month of December is full! Between all the events my kids have at school, office parties, gift exchanges, cookie parties, etc. – the month is pretty busy!
I love to host people in my home. Not just in December, but every week we have people in our home. I am very social and I love to entertain people. But all the details for the foods and drinks can get a little overwhelming. There are a few things that I do to make sure that it’s easy for me to host a party and that my friends have an enjoyable time.
When planning the event, pick a time when your guests don’t expect a full meal. It could be after lunch. Or I prefer to host a dessert party that is after dinner. This means less time preparing a menu and it saves a lot of money on the food budget.
Don’t be afraid to ask your guests to bring something. You have heard the phrase “Many hands make light work.” – Well, that can also apply to party planning. When everyone chips in, it not only helps take the stress off the party planner, but it’s a great way to try out new foods and maybe add a few new recipes to your menu.
Serve simple drinks and appetizers. I am one of those people that usually has the ingredients in my home to whip of some kind of dessert or to be able to mix together a quick appetizer; because I love a spontaneous get-together.
Something we all enjoy this time of year is my recipe for Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade. When I shop at Sam’s Club I pick up the Simply Beverages® Simply Lemonade® 2 pack. It’s pure, natural, great taste shines through in cocktail and mocktail recipes for your Holiday gathering. Find these great-tasting 100% juices and juice drinks in the refrigerated section of your Sam’s Club.
I start with Simply Lemonade®, and then I make a simple raspberry sauce and add sparkling water. It’s a drink that will impress your guests.
Nuts are also always in my house. They are a great snack anytime and that includes parties. Sam’s Club has so many varieties to pick from and they are so affordable. A few of my favorites are:
- Deluxe roasted mixed nuts
- Roasted Cashew Halves with Sea Salt
- Roasted Peanuts w/ Sea salt
- Dry roasted almonds with sea salt
- Chocolate covered almonds
- Unsalted Whole Cashews
Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade
- 4 cups water
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups fresh raspberries + extra for garnish
- 4 cups Simply Lemonade®
- Sparkling water
In a medium saucepan bring water, raspberries, and sugar to boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve while pressing gently on the berries to release the juices. Then discard solids. Let syrup cool completely before continuing.
Combine the syrup and lemonade in a large pitcher. When your guests prepare their drinks, have them put about 2/3 cup of the raspberry lemonade and then top it with the seltzer water.
Garnish with fresh raspberries and a straw for a fun, festive drink!
Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade and nuts are the perfect snacking solutions for your holiday gathering. Head to Sam’s Club and be prepared for the seasons holiday gatherings!
