My family moved to Florida in the early 80s. We left the cold winters of New York for the Sunshine State!  After I got married we moved around a little bit and lived in Mexico City and Kentucky but we had to come back to Florida!! It’s a great place to live!

Now that we live here again we really appreciate the benefits of living in Florida!  It’s the perfect place for our family!

There are so benefits of living in Florida! Did you know that Florida Residents get discounts?? A few times a year the amusement parks will offer discounts just for Florida residents! And many times you will also get discounts on a cruise when you sail from a port in Florida.

 

 

Florida does have the best theme parks! In Central Florida, you have Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World. On the west coast in Tampa – you can enjoy Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. There are plenty of places for adventure in Florida!

If you like the beach, Florida has many beautiful beaches. Florida has 1350 miles of coastline. Only Alaska has more than us!

My favorite is Honeymoon in Dunedin, Florida. It’s just north of Clearwater Beach so it’s a more tranquil but still the perfect beach experience. It has been voted many times as one of the top 10 best beaches in the United States!

The best thing about Florida is you are a short drive to the beach no matter where you live!

Florida is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast. And on the east coast, you can dip your toes in the Atlantic ocean. Popular vacation spots in southern Florida include West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach, and the Florida Keys. You will also love to visit Daytona Beach and St. Augustine.

There is plenty of sunshine and palm trees to get out and enjoy the warm weather in Florida. According to this website, Florida is the warmest of all American states with an average temperature of  70.7°F and gets 2800 hours of sunlight over the year.

There is no state income tax in Florida – so it’s a good reason to move to Florida and save money.

If you like golf – Florida is one of the best places to live. We have beautiful golf courses and even on the days it gets hot – you can still sneak in a round of golf in the morning and avoid the high temperature.

Sports fans – all our major cities have sports teams. And many of them are championship teams.

Cons of Living In Florida

Florida is pretty amazing! You get year-round sunshine and access to sandy beaches but on the flip side, there are some things about Florida that some people may not like.

We have high humidity a lot! We also get some pretty high temperatures. The summer months are usually in the 90s with even hotter “feels like” temps. But you can head to the beach to cool off.

With so many people moving to Florida when you are traveling in the Orlando area and south Florida you will experience heavy traffic.

Due to the popularity of living in Florida in recent years, real estate prices have soared and it’s getting harder to find an affordable property. Last year the national average price of a single-family home was $375,000. In Florida, it is around $385,000.
