Tips for Making the Best Accordion Potatoes

  • Thin slices = crispy edges
  • Reheat any leftover potatoes in the oven for best results.
  • Add your favourite dip – like ketchup or ranch dressing!
  • To keep the already-cut potatoes from turning brown while you cut more potatoes, place the rest of the potatoes in a bowl of water. The cold water will help break down the excess starch, giving your potatoes a crispy outer layer when you bake them.
  • Some recipes use large potatoes but I like this recipe since it uses small to medium potatoes it’s easier to still get the potato accordion shape without having to cook it on a wooden skewer.

Substitutions

  • You can substitute melted butter instead of olive oil. You can even use vegan butter.
  • You can substitute any of the spices for your favorite toppings. Example – 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning, a pinch of pepper, and top with flaky sea salt to taste. Add them to a small bowl and sprinkle the mixture onto your potatoes after adding the olive oil or better.

Tools needed:

  • You will need a wooden skewer sticks or chopsticks to help you not cut the potatoes all the way through so it keeps the eye-catching shape accordion shape.
  • Air Fryer
  • Chopping Board
  • Sharp knife

How to Store Leftover Potato Skewers

If you have any leftover potato skewers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The best way to reheat them is in the air fryer or oven so they stay crispy.

Place them in the air fryer at 350* and bake for 5 minutes, or until heated. Or preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, place the potatoes on a baking sheet, and bake for 5 minutes.

This would be really fun to make with Sweet Potatoes too! You could top them with some olive oil, salt, and rosemary! Or here is a recipe to make Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer with a Marshmallow Dipping Sauce!

I DON'T OWN AN AIR FRYER. I WAS WONDERING IS THERE A WAY TO MODIFY THE RECIPE SO THAT I CAN MAKE IT IN A REGULAR OVEN?
