Are you thinking about staying at the KOA in Murphy, NC? Well – here is everything you need to know about your stay. You are going to love it!
Just like most people, we didn’t have plans for a summer vacation. Last year we went to Paris and that was a pretty incredible trip. This year we just wanted to do something to get away and just spend time with our family.
After talking to a friend (who is also a great tax specialist) about his new life in Murphy, North Carolina we decided that we wanted to take a vacation to the mountains of North Carolina.
He had an RV we could rent and he parked it at the KOA – Peace River Campground in Murphy, NC. There were so many great things about this campground. You should really consider it for your next vacation.
Murphy North Carolina is actually a very cool little town! You are surrounded by beautiful mountains and there is also a lot to do. You could go on many hikes, go fishing, swim in a river see waterfalls and more.
Murphy North Carolina also has a very large casino. Inside the casino are lots of fun restaurants to enjoy too!
While we were in Murphy North Carolina, we went to Fires Creek in Hayesville, North Carolina. (If you go, follow your GPS to the picnic area.) I will share more about that in another post – but it’s a must-visit place when you are in Murphy North Carolina!
Now back to the KOA Murphy NC!
Location
At the campground, you feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere. It’s so quiet that all you can hear is the sounds of nature and if you are lucky enough to be near the bank of the river, you can hear the moving water.
You will find major grocery stores just a few miles away. About a 10-minute drive, you will find downtown Murphy that is really pretty and filled with lots of nice shops and restaurants.

You are also only about 45 minutes from white water rafting. If you are planning on white water rafting, you can go to the Ocoee River Olympic Rafting. This is where they had the 1994 Summer Olympics.
Some other fun places you can visit are:
- Helen Georgia – this is a fun little German town with tubbing and German food!
- Blue Ridge Georgia – This place has stunning views and so many hiking trails and waterfalls to enjoy.
Or you can just stay at the campground and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
Campground Amenities:
The KOA Murphy NC is a beautiful location. The owner, Matt, keeps the grounds looking immaculate! It’s a smaller campground so there are less traffic and people going through the campground.
There is a bathhouse that is located close to all the campsites.
You can rent cabins (they were super cute), park your RV or pop-up, or camp in a tent.
The RV lot was very big. We had lots of space for the kids to play and walk to the bank of the rive behind our campsite.
The pool is perfect for a few hours of summer fun!
The fenced-in play area has a swingset, theater ball, basketball, and more fun activities or the kids to play with.
There was even an arcade for the kids – this was a lot of fun!
Everything about the KOA Murphy NC Campground was perfect! The owners take great care of the area and it’s the perfect social distancing getaway for a family!
Make plans to “social distance” in nature and camp at the KOA – Peace River Campground in Murphy, NC. It’s a great KOA in North Carolina!
