M&M Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars + My Personalized Pan From That's My Pan!® #2015HGG

M&M Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars

For the bars

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½  cups all-purpose flour
  • ½  tsp baking powder
  • ½  tsp salt

For the icing

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2-3  cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 ½  teaspoon vanilla extract
  • food coloring, optional
  • 1 Cup of mini baking M&M’s

Instructions:

To make the cookie bars:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375* degrees .  Grease your 9x13 pan and set aside.
  2. In the bowl or a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.  Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing  until combined.
  3. Slowly add the flour, baking powder, and salt - scraping down the sides as necessary.
  4. Press the sugar cookie dough into the bottom of the prepared pan, in an even layer. Bake 14  minutes, or until the edges just begin to turn a golden brown color. You do not want to over cook them.  Allow the bars to cool completely.

To make the frosting:

  1. Mix the stick of butter in the bowl of a stand mixer for 2 minutes.  Add 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1-2 tbs of milk, and the vanilla extract.  Beat until combined.
  2. If necessary add as much powdered sugar as needed to reach your desired frosting consistency.  Use the remaining milk to thin things out if needed.
  3. If you want to make change the color of the icing, add the food coloring.
  4. Frost the fully cooled bars and top with the M&M’s.

Serve and enjoy!

  8. I like this and would use. But they should engrave the name inside the sides of pan, so when people are walking by filling plates they see name, not miss it when walking by.
