DIY Stain Remover (It’s Like Magic!)

My kids clothes are full of stains. I am horrible at removing stains. One day I remembered something about a stain remover that used Dawn soap and hydrogen peroxide. I made it and it was incredible! I have been getting old stains out of clothes like crazy. It’s like we all have new clothes!

Here is a shirt that my daughter was wearing when she was eating strawberries.

Now here’s the same shirt 30 minutes later after I sprayed it with my stain remover. This shirt hasn’t even been washed yet! I just sprayed it! It is seriously a miracle worker!! (I was shocked it was so clean already. I forgot to take a picture of the shirt after I washed it but it looked good as new!)

DIY Stain Remover

  • 1/3 cup Dawn Dish Soap (I have been using the yellow Dawn)
  • 2/3 cup hydrogen peroxide

In a spray bottle mix the Dawn soap and peroxide. I use a small funnel so I don’t spill it all over. Give it a swirl and start spraying!

I have be able to remove strawberries, blood, dirt, some grease stains, and more!

Try it out and tell me what you think. Now if I could figure out how to remove the grease stains I have on my clothes from cooking I would be a very happy mommy!

Try dawn by itself to treat the grease spots. What it does to grease in the water-it will do to the grease on your clothes.

Is this safe to use on colors? Can you treat it and then wash later or do you wash it right away? I love money saving DIY so I will have to give this a try! The best thing I have found to get grease stains out is Spray-N-Wash stain stick. Gets those grease stains out every time!

I have used this on colors and whites. My husband had a grease stain on a maroon dress shirt. I used this and let it sit a day and it took the stain out and didn't damage the shirt. I generally let it sit for a day or so. I try to spray the stain when the kids get undressed so I dont forget about the stains. I will have to try the Spray N Wash.

I have not yet seen a good homemade stain remover recipe, but this one I'll give a try for sure.
