  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Write the following instructions on the bag:

  1. Quarter 3-4 potatoes and loosely wrap them in a few foil balls.
  2. Place them at the bottom of the Slow Cooker and put the chicken on top of the potatoes.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.

Looking forward to fixing this recipe! Thanks for sharing :) Is it necessary to wrap the potatoes in foil?

Two questions, when the chicken comes out of freezer do you thaw or put in crock pot frozen and could you use the chicken cut up or does it work better whole? Looks interesting and great to have ready to cook out of the freezer when you have house guests.

There is no need to defrost the chicken. It can go straight from the freezer to the slow cooker. That is why I love these recipes :) I have made it cut up but it wasn't as moist so I prefer it whole - but you could try it.

This reminds me of a Hungarian dish that my family introduced me to. I've never made a whole chicken before. Maybe this will be the recipe that gets me to start ... thanks Janell!

I hope you enjoy it - the potatoes are delicious from all the drippings and spices from the chicken.
