It feels like we just started summer vacation. I love to have my kids home with no responsibilities over summer vacation. We can stay up late and sleep in. We can do fun things like visit a strawberry picking farm or go on vacation.
I am not a fan of getting up at 6am but with everything, if we have a routine set up, it makes it a lot easier. Of course the night before we get everything ready. We get their clothes picked out, shoes are by the door, all their homework is back in their back packs, and they have decided what they want to bring for lunch.

When they get home I also like to have everything set up for them so they can get done with their homework and relax for the rest of the evening. Having everything they need is essential. When they get home they are hungry and thirsty so I have a snack and Tampico Punch ready for them. I have also set up a DIY homework station that has everything they need to do their homework. I don’t want them to have to worry about finding a sharpened pencil or an eraser before they get started.
In order to help you have a successful Back to School season I am going to share with you my DIY Homework station and my snack time tips.
The DIY Homework station is easy. When you are purchasing all your supplies, grab a few extra items:
- Crayons
- Colored pencils
- Markers
- Sharpened Pencils
- Pencil Sharpener
- Loose leaf paper
- Erasers
- Ruler
- Highlighters
- Post-it notes
Get a cute tray and set it on the middle of the table. When they start their homework they have everything they need!
Snacks are just as important as supplies. I don’t want them to fill up on too much because I want them to eat dinner. I have a fast and delicious recipe for Peanut Butter Snack Balls that I can throw together.
Peanut Butter Snack Balls
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ⅓ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup quick cooking oats (the smaller oats)
- ¾ cup crispy rice cereal
- ½ cup of candy coated peanut butter pieces*
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine the peanut butter, honey, and vanilla. Add the oats and rice cereal until they are well combined. Finally, add the candy coated peanut butter pieces and stir until they are combined into the mixture.
Place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. You want them to be cold enough so you can form them into balls.
Form them into balls and serve when they get home.
*Get creative with these snack balls. You can switch out the candy coated peanut butter piecess for mini candy coated chocolate pieces, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, etc. Find a flavor you love and try it!
Make sure you serve these up with Tampico punch. My kids love all the varieties that are available from citrus punch to fruit punch. Make Tampico a part of all your family gatherings! They make several drinks that the whole family will love. You can find it on the beverage aisle at your favorite store.

What tips do you have to make Back to School a lot easier!

That is such a great idea. No running around looking for supplies and then getting distracted. And a yummy snack to keep them in their seats!
wow, you're kids are so lucky. Great homework station and even better snacks. I wana live in your house.
Love how thoughtfully you organized this for your kids. It makes it structured and fun - which is a great motivating factor for everyone! Bravo!

Your homework station is such a great idea. I feel like I am always trying to find a pencil or crayons when they need to do homework.
The first and only time I had Tampico was in Hawaii last year. Not something I usually buy but boy was it nice over ice after a day spent at the beach!
I could have used that homework station when I was growing up. I had a tough time trying to get my homework done, trying to dig through my book bag to find what I needed. This would have been handy to have.
I love it! I would love to link this post to my post on Back to School readiness. Let me know if you would be ok with that. I can't wait to try the PB Balls.
So easy and pretty... these look fab! I've gotta give them a try. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
These snack balls like yummy! I'm looking to create a homework or art station with a handheld wooden box. Great idea!
There are so many variations on this one snack! I can't wait to try this one! These are all of the few ingredients my kids will actually eat! lol
heck, I might just make those Peanut Butter snacks for my husband and I instead. Those look yummy!

This snack station idea is great for when the kids get home from school. I know my boys are famished when they get home at the end of the day.
This is such a cute homework station. I need to set one of these up for my kids this year!
Love the idea of a snack station. Those peanut butter snack rolls look so amazing.
Such a cute idea! I love the recipe. I am always looking for easy things that can be a little treat for my kiddos - it is hard to keep up with their snacking ways.
I have never heard of Tampico punch before. Will definitely check it out. And those peanut butter snack balls look so yummy. Thanks for the recipe!
We have a homework station too and I absolutely love it. It makes it so much easier to get homework done.
What a cute idea! The drink looks so fun and those bars look great too. I love the homework station.
This is all new to me - my son is just starting kindergarten, even though he did have homework in preschool. I like the idea of a homework station.
That looks like a great after school snack for the kids! I love how easy it looks too.
They totally are amazing! I may make them to enjoy after the kids go to bed 🙂
Sure - I would love for you to share it! Thanks!
When I saw you snack recipe I was happy, until I scrolled down and saw the candy... I have been trying to avoid things with sugar... It looks creative & delicous but I guess that I will have to pass on the peanut butter pieces candy, it will all be good...
That's our favorite punch! I love the homework station, we have something similar. It just makes things a lot easier.
That is such a great idea! Complete with yummy snacks to keep them fueled! 🙂 Any way to keep kids engaged and organized I'm all for! (AND it'll make nights easier)
That's the nice thing about this recipe - you don't have to include the candy. The base recipe would be great without the candy.
