Stay Fit and Healthy This Holiday Season ~ Day 1

I love the holidays. It’s a great time to spend with our family and friends. But during the month of December there are so many food temptations available. And it can be difficult if you want to stay healthy and fit.  My friends Ilyse Schapiro and Hallie Rich are sharing 12 days of tips with you all to help you make better choices to stay fit and healthy this holiday season.

Together they have written a very helpful book, Should I Scoop Out My Bagel, about diet and nutrition.  This book has 99 easy to read chapter that answer some of your questions about how to eat healthy and how to make better choices. It’s very informative!

Over the next 12 days they are going to share some of their best tips to help you get through the holidays! Here’s the first tip of our series!

Holidays bring the joy of family, friends, parties, and great food.  While many may stress over the dreaded seasonal weight gain, it is easy to maintain a healthy diet by following some simple guidelines.  Make this holiday season your happiest and healthiest one yet, and don’t fall into the mindset that you will start your healthy diet in the New Year.

There is no better time to start than now.  Make sure to stock your refrigerator with healthy meals so you are less likely to pick at unhealthy leftovers.  And don’t let your unhealthy holiday leftovers replace all your meals for the week.    There are so many healthy recipes that can still feel festive without you overindulging and that taste great the day after.  Some of our favorites include Rosemary  Orange Roast Turkey, Roasted Chicken with Lemon and Thyme, Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes, Baked Parmesan Tomatoes, Ginger Crinkle Cookies.

Got a questions? Leave me a comment and Hallie and Ilyse can answer it for you! And if you want an easy book to read about diet and nutrition, order Should I Scoop Out My Bagel at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Come back tomorrow for another helpful health tip!
