I hate socks! I’m from Florida – so I will do anything to avoid wearing socks – even now and we live in Kentucky. I think I hate them so much because I can’t stand matching socks.
But that doesn’t mean we never have socks to match in out house. I have 3 kids and a husband that wear socks every day! That’s 64 socks a week – 32 pairs of socks to match each week! So I needed a solution. I didn’t want to have to match anymore socks. And I didn’t want a laundry basket with a bunch of mismatched socks.
So here’s my solution and all you need are hooks and lingerie bags. You can literally do this project for just a few bucks and it will save you hours of sock matching (and searching for socks)!
In our house, I only need 3 lingerie bags. I need 2 for the boys ( hubby and oldest son can share socks) and one for my daughter. You can usually find these for $1 at most retail stores.
You can also use just about any hook. We used 3M hooks but you could get the kind that have a suction cup or a magnet to put on the front of your washing machine.
Stick them on your washing machine and you can even get a dry erase marker and write the persons name next to their bag. My kids usually take off their shoes and socks as soon as they get home, so now they know that they should also drop their socks in their designated bag.
Every few days I throw the bag in the washer and dryer. When they are done, I give them to my kids and they can match all their socks!
No more missing socks!! No more spending tons of time trying to match all our socks!
