*Summer Fun* Make Your Own DIY Sidewalk Paint

It is hard to believe that we have already been on summer vacation for over 3 weeks. It has been nice to sleep in and hang out with my kids. I love summer vacation because we don’t have deadlines nor activities to get to – we can let our kids just be kids. They stay up late, eat cereal for dinner, and play in the dirt. Let me tell you about my kids – they make messes when I think it’s impossible to make a mess. They use their clothes as a napkin and some days I have to remind them to change their “stinky” clothes. Plus my clothes smell so fresh when I pull them out of the dryer.

Are you ready to get messy this summer? My kids love to color but it is more fun when you have a much larger canvas to color on. Our driveway is huge and the sidewalks go on and on. So we make our own sidewalk paint and decorate the neighborhood. It’s super easy and when you pick up all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI at Walmart, you can grab the rest of your supplies!

DIY Sidewalk Paint

1 1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups water
food coloring
foam brushes/paint brushes
Containers (we use cup cake tins)

Instructions:

I use a large measuring cup to mix together the cornstarch and the water. Mix it together with a whisk.
Pour the mixture into the containers and add food coloring. Make several colors: red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, etc! Use the whisk to mix the colors.
Use the paint brushes and be an artist.

(Please note that the food coloring has never stained my drive way or sidewalks, but you can always test a spot to make sure it doesn’t stain your cement.)

It’s that easy and so much fun! Your kids will love that the canvas keeps going and going and there is a great way to be creative and not spend all day in front of a screen.

Moms – the last thing you need to worry about this summer is the mess. The ice pops are going to drip, the chocolates are going to melt, that ketchup will fall off that hotdog and the more grass stains they have – the more fun they had. Let your kids be kids and enjoy these moments!
