Slow Cooker Frito Chili – Try It Tonight!
Slow Cooker Frito Chili - Try It Tonight!

The weather is changing!! That makes me so excited. After living in Florida for most of my life, I am enjoying the seasons in Kentucky. I love to have my windows open letting the fresh air breeze through my house. It’s a good excuse to snuggle on the couch under blankets and make something warm and yummy in my slow cooker.

One thing my family loves is chili. We like to change it up. Have you ever been to Sonic? They have this delicious Fruit Chili Wrap – so I had to replicate it at home.  I love how simple it is and the leftovers taste even better!

Add these ingredients to your list and surprise your family with some Frito Chili tonight!

Easy Frito Chili

(Printable Recipe)

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 garlic cloves, diced
  • 2 cups tomato puree (or diced tomatoes if you prefer)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 bag Fritos

Optional (but not really) – shredded cheese and sour cream

Instructions :

  1. In a pan brown ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is tender.
  2. Drain off any fat and let cool completely.
  3. Cook on low for 4 hours. Serve over Fritos with your favorite chili topping.

See it is super simple and has so much flavor. It’s an awesome meal to bring to a party or make when you spend the day watching football.

You can even turn this into a freezer meal. Cook the ground been and let it cool completely. Add all the ingredients (except the Fritos) to a large ziplock bag. Write on the bag to cook for 5 hours on low. Place it in the freezer and dump it in your slow cooker when you need an quick and easy meal!

This sounds delicious and so easy on a busy day. I love a nice pot of chili. Leftovers are so yummy on a baked potato, chili dogs, chili cheese fries (I make my own potato wedges), and as nachos.
