Looking for Fortnite Cake Ideas? These Fortnite Cupcakes are so easy to make!
When my son had his 10th birthday and I asked him about party ideas. He really wanted to have a Fortnite Birthday Party. So I did some research for Fortnite Cake Ideas and realized that making cupcakes was the best option for the party.
I am not a professional cake maker and I do not like the taste of fondant – so Fortnite cupcakes were perfect!
I don’t really understand the game or how to even create food around that theme so I had my son give me some ideas and came up with V Bucks Fortnite Cupcakes. The only special thing you need for this recipe is the silver spray for the icing – but other than that – this is a simple cake and icing recipe anyone can make!
For my Fortnite Cupcakes, I used my favorite vanilla cake mix recipe and vanilla buttercream icing and it worked perfectly. They are pretty easy to put together, they tasted amazing and my son through they looked perfect.
We don’t like fondant on our cakes so this recipe is all about vanilla buttercream icing!
We also made Med Kits from Fortnite. These were really simple. All you need to do is make a batch of rice krispy treats, red fruit by the foot, and you can use the icing recipe below as “glue”.
Use the red Fruit by the Foot and cut it out to make a cross on the Rice Krispy Treats.

Fortnite Cupcakes (VBucks Cupcakes)
- 1 box White Cake Mix (do not use the directions on the box)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/3 cup water
- 2 Tablespoons oil
- 4 egg whites
Non-food items
- Silver Cupcake liners
- Silver Color Mist
- Blue Food Coloring
- Piping bags
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350*. Line the cupcake tins with liners and set aside.
- In a mixer add the cake mix, flour, sugar, sour cream, water and oil. Mix until combined. Then add 1 egg white at a time. Once all the eggs are in, mix for about 90 seconds.
- Bake for about 15 minutes.
- Let cool completely before you apply the icing.
White Icing Recipe
- 3 sticks of unsalted butter softened
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3-4 Tablespoons half and half (or more if needed)
Instructions:
In a stand up mixer add the sticks of butter. Mix for 2-3 minutes until it gets lighter in color and texture.
Add about 4 cups of sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 Tablespoons of half and half to the butter and mix until well combined.
Then add the rest of the ingredients and mix until fluffy. You can add more half and half if it’s too thick.
Scoop out about 1 1/2 cups of the icing and tint it the color blue that you desire and set aside.
Place the icing in a piping bag with a 1A tip. I did a quick swirl with this and then went back with a knife to make it flat.
This was to get a little thicker icing on the cupcake but you could add the icing with a knife also and not use the piping bag.
Let the frosted cupcakes sit for about 45 minutes. You want them to get a little bit of a crust on the tops. Take a piece of wash paper and place it on top of the icing.
Slide your finger over the top to smooth out the icing. Slowly remove the wax paper.
If you try to do this too soon the icing will stick to the wax paper.
Lightly spray the silver color mist over all the cupcakes. They will be a light silver and they will shimmer a little. They will look wet and they will dry. You can go back and spray more on it if you want a darker color.
Once the color mist has dried on the cupcake you can place the white icing in a piping bag with a Wilton No 3 tip or you can just snip off the top of a ziplock bag to pipe the “V” on the cupcakes. Add a large “V” to each cupcake.
With the same tip or plastic bag, pipe the blue icing onto the cupcake.
I did the first one over the top of the “V” and then I started the side blue lines at the bottom of the “V” and went upward.
I think these are a lot more fun than just buying cupcake toppers!
We also bought some small blue Gatorade bottles and bought some labels from Etsy that said Blue Potion Water.
The digital file was only $2.25 so we could print them out at home and tape them to the bottles.
Serve and enjoy at the party! We had our birthday party at House of Boom. It was a great venue for us to have a birthday party. I didn’t have to set up or clean up!

Cupcakes are a must when you throw parties at home. This looks delicious! But I do not prefer using butter for baking recipes. I use pure ghee for making my cakes extra moist and nutritious. Ghee butter benefits are now known to all. If you haven't tried this wonderful dairy oil, you must try it out!
