It’s crazy! As the school year was ending, my husband and I started to talk about a summer vacation. We usually find a place we can drive to find good deals on hotels, attractions, food, etc,. We remembered we had a ton of frequent flyer miles so just for fun – I put in Paris. Much to our surprise, we had enough for 5 FREE airline tickets to Paris. So we decided to do it and I am glad we did!

Here is a quick look at all the things we did. If you have 5 days in Paris – this will make sure you see the most visited places. I will write longer blog posts about the things we did and how we got some great deals.

If you are looking for a Paris Itinerary – 5 Days here is what we did!

We got a really awesome deal on a hotel on Priceline.com because we did an Express deal (so we didn’t know the hotel until we paid for it) and we got an amazing hotel. We stayed at the Mercure Paris Centre Eiffel Tower Hotel and we were just stepped away from the Eiffel Tower and we can see it from our window and watch it twinkle at night.

Paris Itinerary – 5 Days (Perfect For Families)

Day 1 In Paris

We arrived at 6 am and no one slept on the flight. We were excited to get to the hotel and explore the area. At the airport, go to the taxi area and take a taxi to your hotel. We paid $67 Euros from Charles De Gaulle to our hotel near the Eiffel Tower. (Ubers are easy but it was over 100 Euros to take an Uber to the hotel and the taxis were just as nice.)

We stored our luggage at the hotel and walked around to find a place to eat. We stopped at a cafe and had espresso, breads, and crepes. We also walked close to the Eiffel Tower because it was so close!

After a few hours, we went back to the hotel and waited in the lobby until our room was ready. We all took a nap and we were ready to explore again. We just went out to grab some dinner and some groceries to keep in our room and then went to bed for the night!

Day 2 In Paris

Paris Itinerary - 5 Days - Family Vacation In Paris + Tips Disneyland Paris

When in Paris you have to visit Disneyland…or do you 🙂 We walked, took an Uber, and train just to get to Disneyland. It was ok but I wouldn’t go there again. I prefer Disney World in Orlando. I will share more about this trip soon.

On the way home, we had to get off the subway because the metro stops near us were closed. We decided to get off at the Louvre because it would be beautiful to see at night…and it was! We spent some time admiring it and then took an Uber back to our hotel.

Day 3 In Paris

We were so exhausted after walking about 10 miles at Disneyland. It was rainy – so it was a good excuse to sleep in. We didn’t leave our room until around 2pm! We walked across the street from the Eiffel Tower to the Trocadero and had a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. Then we found a hipster pizza place and had a great lunch.

After lunch, we walked to a Starbucks to get some coffee and rest our feet. We headed back to our hotel to admire the Eiffel Tower a little more before grabbing some dinner and hanging out in our hotel room for the rest of the night.

Day 4 In Paris

Today we really explored Paris. We used the Batobus to get around Paris. It has 9 stops and is a great way to see the city. Plus, it’s really affordable. We had a stop at the Eiffel Tower, so we got on and admired the city from the Seine River.

We got out early and stopped at almost every stop. We saw the Ponte Alexandre III. It’s a gorgeous bridge that gives you a great view of the city. You can also walk the famous street Champs-Elysees that leads to the Arc de Triomphe. We also took it to see Notre Dame.

The Batobus is the best way to get around Paris! Make sure you get it for 2 days – it’s like $2 more and totally worth it!

That night we found a French restaurant and ate some yummy food and watched the sunset over the Eiffel Tower and watched it light up and twinkle.

Day 5 In Paris

Louvre Museum in Paris

This was our last full day in Paris. We took the Batobus to the Louvre and spent the day admiring all the things in the Louvre museum. We walked to La Maris neighborhood for lunch. It’s really a great district of Paris with lots of shops and restaurants. We needed a cheaper meal so we actually ate at Steak n Shake. I know – we were in Paris but all we could find is really expensive food or Italian food.

We took the Batobus back to the Eiffel Tower stop and spent the rest of the night packing and getting ready for our flight in the morning!

Getting to Paris

We took Delta Airlines and it was an awesome trip. They had lots of good food options and entertainment options. It was the longest flight I had ever been on and the time passed pretty quickly. None of my kids complained at all on the plane ride. We live in Louisville and decided to fly out of Indianapolis because they have a direct flight to Paris.

The night before our flight we stayed at the Crown Plaza near the Indianapolis Airport and it was perfect. The room was clean and spacious. The beds and bedding were also comfortable. I also had to use the business center to print a few things and it was simple and fast.

We were very happy they have an option to leave our van at the hotel while we were on vacation and the fee was only $5 per night. Their shuttle leaves the hotel at :00 and :30 and picks you up at the airport to bring you back to the hotel at :15 and :45 of every hour. It’s about a 10-minute ride to the airport from the hotel.

It was a lot of fun and I think my kids really liked seeing things in another country. I can’t wait until they study this in school and understand it even more! I’m thankful we were able to take this vacation and not spend too much money to do everything we wanted to do! It was the Ultimate Paris itinerary!
