If you follow any of my social pages or if you have read my blog over the month of August you know that we went to Paris for 5 days. You may not have realized it – but we were able to get 5 airline tickets from Indianapolis to Paris for FREE with our frequent flyer miles.
Yes, my husband used to travel a lot for his previous job so we were able to accumulate a lot of miles. But all we needed was 190,000 miles for all of us to get tickets. (We did have to pay around $80 per person in taxes and fees.)
But you don’t need to be a world traveler to earn enough miles to be able to get a free flight to Europe. We fly Delta a lot, so it’s been beneficial to have a Delta American Express card.
There are lots of perks but the best one is that you can earn up to 55,000 Bonus Miles.
Bonus Miles are awarded after you make $1,000 in purchases on your new Card and up to $50 back in statement credits for eligible purchases at US restaurants within their first 3 months.

We were able to get our tickets for 38,000 miles each – so this promotion gives you enough miles for the trip!
You don’t need to go crazy and buy things just to reach your $2,000. Use your card to make your everyday purchases and pay your bills and you will easily spend $2,000 in the 3 months.
Make sure you go into your account weekly and pay off the balance – you should have the money available to pay these bills since you would have budgeted for them anyway.) Be responsible and don’t let the balances get out of hand.
Delta makes it so easy to use miles for travel. You will be able to find round-trip flights to Amsterdam, Paris, London, Milan, Dublin, and more starting at 40,000 miles (plus taxes and fees).
Tip – If you open a card – do not add your spouse to the card. Your spouse can also apply for the card and qualify for the bonus miles so you can have an awesome vacation together! Space them out a little so you make sure you can reach the $2000 spending requirement. Plus you will get an additional 12,500 miles when you refer your spouse.
Please note: There is a $95 fee for this card but it is waived for the first year. Make a note in your calendar and close the account so you are not charged the free but you still have your miles available. You can read this article about closing your credit card accounts.
