We will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen making cookies for the holidays. My daughter loves to bake and we make a big mess! All my recipes are digital so we cook with my iPad on the counter. I am so thankful we have a Rug-Ed case to protect my iPad from spills and drops!

This is a classic cookie recipe that will be a perfect addition to your recipe box.

Butter is usually the main ingredient of cookies but this recipe is a great way to make butterless cookies. This easy recipe makes chewy cookies that you will love!

Another reason people like to make a no butter cookie recipe is that canola oil has less saturated fat than butter.

Tips for this butterless chocolate chip cookies recipe:

  • I like to use a standup mixer. You can use an electric mixer or mix it by hand but it will be a little more work.
  • I never bake with ingredients at room temperature – so there is no need to take the eggs out early to make these delicious cookies.
  • You can make these without chilling the dough but they will spread more. They still taste perfect – so it’s up to you if you want to chill the dough or put it straight into the oven!
  • There are different types of oil but I prefer canola oil for this cookie recipe since it’s flavorless. Olive oil tastes too heavy and avocado oil and unrefined coconut oil would mess with the flavor of the cookies

Let’s talk about the texture of these cookies. When I take them out of the oven, they have a little bit of crunch to them. But after you let them sit out for a little bit the cookies get very soft. They are almost like Subway cookies. It’s a pretty delicious cookie! You have to try this recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookies Without Butter Recipe Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.

Add the eggs, oil, sugars, and vanilla extract in a large bowl of a stand-up mixer. Mix together until creamy – about 1 minute.

Add in the dry ingredients – Add the flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly turn on the mixer to combine. As the flour is combined you can increase the speed and mix for about 45 seconds. Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides. Make sure the flour mixture is combined well with the wet ingredients.

Fold in the chocolate chips and mix until just combined so that you do not overmix.

Scoop the cookie balls onto the cookie sheet with a tablespoon or cookie dough scoop and place the dough balls onto the parchment covered baking sheet. Place cookies about 3 inches apart so they don’t spread into each other while baking.
