Are you looking for a unique recipe for Valentine’s Day? Check out this recipe for White Chocolate Cake Cookies With A Chocolate Heart. These are super cute to make for your kids, significant other, or your co-workers! They look so pretty and they are made with a cake mix!
Just add a few ingredients to your mixer and you will get these very tasty cookies. I love the sanding sugar. It almost looks like it is covered in glitter. The chocolate heart in the middle is the perfect touch. Or you could change it out for other pieces of candy like a Hershey Kiss, or a Dove Square.
You can even switch out the sugar to a colored sugar. These cookies would be gorgeous with a pink or red sugar coating.
This is also a fun cookie to make with your kids. My daughter loves to drop cookie balls into sugar and then add the chocolate heart to the top. It’s a great way to spend time with your kids!

White Chocolate Cake Cookies – Made with a cake mix
**UPDATE 2/8/20 – This recipe was a guest post. After a few comments that the recipe wasn’t working, I decided to try it and see what happens. So below is the updated recipe. It’s delicious and so simple! You will love how soft these cookies are!
This original recipe was made with an 18oz cake mix when many cake mixes are now just 15 oz. So if you only have a 15 oz cake mix – just add 1/4 cup of flour.
White Chocolate Cake Cookies With A Chocolate Heart
Makes 30 cookies
- 1 box 18oz of white cake mix (**If it’s a 15 oz cake mix – add 1/4 cup of flour)
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon white chocolate extract (you could use vanilla extract and it will still taste great!)
- 1 container of white sanding sugar – pick your favorite color!
- 30 chocolate hearts (or more as needed) You can also use Heresy Kisses.
Preheat oven at 350º F.
Using a standing mixer, combine cake mix, vegetable oil, white chocolate extract, and 2 eggs until combined.
Scoop out about 1 Tablespoon of batter into your hands and roll into a ball.
Pour the sanding sugar into a bowl and roll cookie dough in the sanding sugar.
Place cookie dough balls about 2 inches apart on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
Once you remove it from the oven, place the chocolate heart into the center of the cookies.
