Low Carb Tomato Sauce Recipe

A low carb tomato sauce recipe is one of those recipes you must have to whip up easy meals if you are on a low-carb diet!

So many people in the United States are on the keto diet! So many things we eat have hidden sugars – even pasta sauce!

If you are looking for sugar-free, low carb, and KETO-friendly recipes – this is it. I need recipes that are easy to make. I remember my mom spending hours making a pot of sauce for dinner. It was delicious. But for some reason, I could never perfect the recipe. Plus my kids hated to find pieces of onion in their sauce.

I wanted a quick and easy recipe. I needed a great recipe that used the spices I have in my spice cabinet and could be done just as quickly as the pasta. You always need a little sugar in the sauce to help with the acid from the tomatoes and I think Stevia is the perfect addition. If you aren’t looking for a sugar-free option you could add a teaspoon of sugar to your sauce instead of stevia.

This is a great keto sauce that everyone will love! Even if they aren’t on a low-carb diet!

It’s cheaper than sauce you buy at the grocery store and you know all the ingredients. This recipe is also very freezer-friendly. Add it to an airtight container and freeze up to 6 months.

It’s so easy that my husband and son threw all the ingredients together the other day while I was making zucchini lasagna.

Low-Carb Marinara Sauce Tips:

  • I love to use canned San Marzano tomatoes. I feel like they are fresh tomatoes that make my own sauce taste better!
  • You could use canned whole tomatoes to make it a chunky sauce – just add them to the blender or food processor and add them to the saucepan.
  • Blend it longer to make a smooth sauce. Or you can add some tomato paste to thicken the sauce.
  • Add some ground beef to make a meat sauce.

The main reason I love this low-carb spaghetti sauce recipe is that it has simple ingredients and it has so much flavor! Plus you can add anything to it to like Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, or parmesan cheese.

Homemade sauce is so much better I think and goes further. I do buy a jar from time to time though. I've never tried it with Stevia.

This does sound good! I like to add a little crushed fennel seed, too.
