Crock Pot Ribs

We really like ribs but they can be a lot of work if you need to fire up the grill. Im so glad I have this recipe now for when we want to have ribs for dinner. It will be in my next series of freezer recipes. It's simple to put together and it has a lot of flavor. My kids even really liked them - and they don't like to eat the ribs we cook on the grill.

Printable Version

  • About 2 lbs of ribs
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • ¾ cup Coke (I saved a 2 liter with flat soda to use)
  • 1 Tablespoons honey
  • Extra BBQ sauce, optional

Instructions

  1. Add the ribs to the crock pot. In a small bowl add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  2. Pour over the ribs.
  3. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or  on low 8-9 hours. Cooking time varies according to the size of your crock pot.
  4. I drizzled about a ½ cup of BBQ sauce about 15 minutes before serving. I did not use the juice that was inside the crock pot because it had a lot of grease. There was plenty of flavor on the ribs.

  3. WOW! These are awesome! I wasn't sure if I needed to cut the ribs up first, so I did. It wasn't hard. I also made some changes due to allergies. Left out the Coke. Increased the brown sugar to 3/4 cup and honey to 2 Tablespoons. Decreased the garlic powder to 1 teaspoon. Also added a half cup of water. We didn't even use barbeque sauce, they are that good. Still tastes awesome 2 days later! Can't believe we had leftovers - I had to hide them in the back of the fridge. Thanks for a great recipe.

  7. It was raining here, so we made these in these in the crockpot for Memorial Day. I wanted to make them less greasy, so I made 4 aluminum foil 'logs' for the bottom of the crockpot and rested the ribs on top. It worked great! I'm going to try the 'logs' with other types of meat in the crockpot sometime.
