Summer is just around the corner. That means we will have lazy days by the pool and trips to the zoo and other fun attractions in my area. I am so excited that I will not have to wake up everyday at 6am. It’s sad when 7:15am is considered sleeping in!
One thing that I don’t look forward to is summer hair. All that time in the pool and out in the sun can make your hair pretty unhealthy. Im getting my hair healthier now so it is more manageable during the summer months. When I was at Walmart, I picked up some Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care Honey Treasures. There is a shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask. (My Walmart had it on an end cap in the Health and Beauty section.)
I color my hair and use a flat iron, throw in some sun and chlorine and my hair is a mess! Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care has really helped make my hair softer and silkier. They add carefully-selected ingredients that deeply nourish, hydrate, and repair my hair.
It smells amazing. It’s a soft honey scent that I love! The Repairing – Honey Treasure has essence of royal jelly, honey, and propolis. It’s like a moment of relaxation in the shower when I am washing my hair. Most days I use the shampoo and conditioner but a few times a month I use the hair mask. I leave it in for 3 minutes and my hair feels amazing! No more brittle, dry hair!
They have a few different formulas available for all hair types:
- Hydrating – Coconut Water and Vanilla Milk
- Smoothing – Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter
- Refreshing – Green Apple and Green Tea
- Nourishing – Avocado Oil and Shea Butter
- Color Care – Argan Oil and Cranberry Extracts
You can find a blend that works for your hair type!
During the summer you may want to also skip the flat iron or blow dryer and braid your hair. I like to change up my hairstyle, so I have been making these fun DIY No-Sew Headbands. I am not crafty at all! I own a sewing machine but I never use it – I don’t think I even know how to add the thread. So if you are like me – you can make these headbands too! I love this color blue, but you can use a pattern if you prefer.
DIY No Sew Headband
Supplies:
- Hem Tape
- Fabric – pick a fabric that stretches, like a jersey cotton.
- Good Scissors (bad scissors will pull the fabric and cut uneven)
- Measuring tape
- Flat Iron
Instructions:
Using the measuring tape, measure your head where the headband would sit on your head. Remember how many inches it is and subtract 1 inch. (For example, mine head was 21 inches and I measured the fabric at 20 inches.)
Lay out your fabric. You are going to be using 2 strips of fabric. The length will be the distance around your head minus 1 inch. The width will be 5 or 6 inches. An average adult head would be 20 inches long and 5 inches wide. Cut the length and then the width for 2 pieces of fabric. (Don’t worry if the fabric is wrinkled, the flat iron can fix that later.)
With the good side of the fabric on the top, cut the hem tap to fit the length of the fabric. Put the hem tape on the end of 1 side of the fabric and fold it over so it just touches the edge and covers the hem tape.
Slowly move the flat iron across the fabric. The heat from the flat iron will “glue” the edges together. Repeat this with the other piece of fabric. Turn the fabric strip right side out.
Lay the fabric strips like an “+”. Fold the bottom strip over touching the end of the other side and add hem tape and go over it with the flat iron. Repeat with the other side. (You are making 2 big loops.)
Using the hem tape and flat iron, connect the ends of the other side.
Now you will complete the circle and use the hem tape and flat iron to connect the ends to finish the headband. Let the glue on the hem tape cool for a few minutes before you try on your headband.
The first time you make one of these it can seem tricky, but it’s pretty simple. When I finished my headband, my daughter asked me to make one for her too! (Her measurements were 19 inches x 5 inches.) They are super cute for the beach, pool, or just hanging out in your back yard with friends!
Not that I have healthy hair, I will show it off by wearing my hair down but pulling it out of my face with my No Sew Headbands!
As you get ready for summer, make sure you check out the Whole Blends line, here. Which blend do you want to try?

The headband is too cute! I see these on Etsy and they are so expensive. I need to try this diy. I got a sample of the Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Hair Care in the mail but haven't tried it yet.
