This Air Fryer Whole Rotisserie Chicken is better than store bought chicken!
It is crazy how much I love my air fryer! We have used it so much more than the Instant Pot we had. Besides making meals it has been hand when we want to make corn dogs, reheat pizza and more. It’s so much easier than turning on the oven and waiting for it to preheat. It’s so easy that my 9 year old can easily grab a piece of pizza from the fridge and pop it in the air fryer to make a slice of pizza that tastes just like it came from the restaurant.

I am working on 1 more recipe that can be made in the air fryer and then I will create a printable shopping list so you can have a meal plan set up for your work week! Im thinking about a meatloaf or salmon but not sure – there are so many good options!
If you have an air fryer – this has to be part of your meal plan. It’s great if you need to have some cooked chicken for a recipe. Plus it is a lot cheaper than getting it at the grocery store. It’s really easy to throw all the spices together and have this delicious chicken.
My daughter came home from school as this was coming out of the oven and when she tried it she said it was the best chicken she had ever eaten. (This is an accomplishment coming from a picky 7 year old!) So this meal can also be labeled as kid friendly!
I have a Power XL air Fryer and it easily fit this 5 pound chicken. You could get something a little bigger if you have more people to feed. (Here’s my Amazon affiliate link if you are thinking about buying an Air Fryer.)
Air Fryer Whole Rotisserie Chicken
- 1 whole chicken (4-5 pounds)
- 2-3 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- olive oil
Mix together all the spices. Pat a little olive oil all over the chicken.
Coat the breast side of the bird with half the seasonings and then place it into the air fryer. Sprinkle the remaining spices onto the chicken and close the air fryer.
Set the air fryer to 350* for 60 minutes. When it get to 30 minutes you can flip it. I used 2 forks and it was really easy.
It is done once the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165*.
Tip – you can stuff this bird! Just add about 30 more minutes to the timer.
I make this as a slow cooker meal and I add some potatoes under the chicken and it is so yummy. All the juice from the chicken with the spices seeps into the potatoes and gives them so much flavor. Here is the recipe if you would rather make it in your slow cooker. If you have been trying to get better at meal planning check out this post:
